New project will help teachers tackle toxic masculinity in schools
Monash University, through a collaboration between the Arts and Education Faculties, has launched a project to help secondary school teachers tackle toxic masculinity and misogynistic gender narratives in schools. Funded by Australia's National Research Organisation for Women's Safety (ANROWS), the project aims to establish early intervention programs to address the influence of harmful online ideologies on young boys and men.

The project, led by Dr Naomi Pfitzner from the Monash Gender and Family Violence Prevention Centre and Dr Stephanie Wescott from the Faculty of Education, will involve research, workshops, and a pilot professional learning program to equip teachers with strategies to combat these ideologies and create safer, more equitable classrooms.
