Culture of respect
At Monash we’re committed to social justice and human rights - and we strive to create a culture that supports inclusion and celebrates diversity.
Australian Marriage Equality
Since it was founded, Monash has stood for the principles of fairness, tolerance and diversity. Support for marriage equality is consistent with these values and our commitment to championing those values.
In 2015, Monash University was one of the first of the Group of Eight (Go8) coalition of Australian universities, and part of the over 690 organisations and numerous Australian individuals to show support for Australian Marriage Equality.
Respect. Now. Always
From 2016, we have been a partner in Universities Australia’s national campaign Respect. Now. Always. This is focused on ensuring women are free from sexual assault and harassment and that everyone understands their personal responsibilities.
The safety and wellbeing of students and staff is fundamental to Monash University. Each member of the University has the right to work, learn and socialise in an environment where they feel safe and where unacceptable behaviour is not tolerated. Monash is continually working to make sure our campuses in Australia and overseas are places of inclusion and respect.
