Brazil CAPES-PrInt funding program

The Brazil Government has launched a new program to internationalise its institutions, aiming to promote and enhance excellence in Brazilian universities and research institutes. Australia is a priority country for Brazilian institutions for this program. This is the successor program to Science Without Borders (SWB) which sent 100,000 students and researchers in STEM fields to study overseas including over 700 students to Monash.

The Program for Institutional Internationalisation of Brazil's higher education institutions and research institutions (CAPES-PrInt) focuses on postgraduate programs across diverse academic disciplines.

The program finances the following:

  • international travel for Brazilian academics or students for collaboration, research, and teaching activities abroad
  • overseas scholarships for foreigners, or for Brazilians living abroad to carry out research or teaching activities in Brazilian higher education institutions
  • support for international cooperation projects and publishing in high impact international journals
  • junior and senior visiting professors, as well as training in short courses or summer/winter schools abroad or in Brazil.

We are keen to support university partners in Brazil in their quest to internationalise and academic staff are encouraged to build institutional ties with key partners in Brazil. Please note funding is managed by the Brazilian university, not us.

Please contact Joe De Pasquale at joe.depasquale@monash.edu for questions about Monash's participation in this scheme.
