Monash ranked in top 100

Monash University is ranked as one of the top 100 universities in the world according to the results of a reputation survey released by Times Higher Education today. This ranking puts Monash among the top 0.5 per cent of the world’s higher education institutions.

The University is ranked in the 91 – 100 band in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings 2015. It is the second time Monash has achieved a top 100 spot in the reputation rankings since they were first published in 2010.

The rankings are based on the world’s largest invitation-only survey of academic opinion, featuring 10,500 respondents from 142 countries.

Monash University Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Margaret Gardner AO said the results highlight the University’s global reputation.

“Gaining a spot in the top 100 shows the University is held in high esteem by academics worldwide,” Professor Gardner said.

“The ranking reflects the high quality and reputation of the education and research that Monash offers. It is excellent to see Monash in the top 0.5 per cent of the world’s higher education institutions and this result is a credit to the calibre of staff and students.”

Times Higher Education rankings editor Phil Baty said Monash University has been judged to be one of the world’s top 100 most prestigious universities by an invitation-only poll of thousands of senior scholars from all over the world.

“To receive such a positive endorsement from a group of senior peers is something special – indeed, it puts Monash among the top 0.5 per cent of the world’s higher education institutions in terms of its reputation for both teaching and research. A strong global reputation such as that enjoyed by Monash will help ensure that the University continues to be a beacon of excellence for Australia, Asia-Pacific and the wider world,” said Mr Baty.

This current ranking continues the strong standing of Monash as scored on other global ranking. Monash is ranked 83 by the 2014-2015 Times Higher Education World University Rankings and is also positioned at 70 by the 2014/2015 QS World University Rankings.

Monash is positioned at five in the region and 88 in the world in the US News and World Report’s first global rankings released in October last year.
