Appointment of Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice-President

Ms Anna Tsikouris has been appointed Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice-President of Monash University.

Following an extensive search across university and non-university sectors, Monash University has announced the appointment of Ms Anna Tsikouris as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Senior Vice-President, commencing in April 2024.

With a reputation as an accomplished and highly-regarded commercial leader, Ms Tsikouris brings to Monash a wealth of experience in large, complex organisations spanning cultures and geographies across Asia, Australasia and Europe. Over the course of a truly global career, she has demonstrated an impressive track record of leading large-scale transformations and delivering programs with lasting results, underpinned by her purpose-driven and collaborative style.

Ms Tsikouris joins Monash from the Australian National University (ANU), where she served as CFO for the past four years. She possesses a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic, challenging landscape in which universities operate, having joined ANU during a difficult period for the global higher education sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Ms Tsikouris drew upon her extensive commercial experience to successfully redesign the responsibilities and focus of the finance portfolio and deliver a transformative approach to strategic financial management. She enabled the implementation and ongoing success of organisation-wide initiatives by facilitating collaborations within the portfolio, with internal ANU stakeholders and external commercial partners.

Prior to her appointment at ANU, Ms Tsikouris held the position of Vice-President and CFO, North East Asia, at Ericsson Japan for six years, where she was responsible for the market areas of Japan, Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong and South Korea. In this role, she navigated complex cultural contexts and executed strategy across diverse markets while managing vastly different technology cycles, business processes and regulations. Ms Tsikouris first joined Ericsson in 2000 and held several senior commercial management roles across Asia as well as in Sweden, New Zealand and Australia. She previously held accounting roles at Warner Village Cinemas and Barclays Commodities in the United Kingdom, and the Department of Human Services in Victoria.

Ms Tsikouris is accredited as a Certified Practising Accountant by CPA Australia and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She holds a Bachelor of Business, Accounting from RMIT University.
