Crack shot

Monash graduate and Commonwealth Olympian Laetisha Scanlan has shown why she is ranked equal first in Australia and 23rd in the world after winning the European Grand Prix tournament in Serbia.
The Berwick based shooter breezed through the qualifying rounds of the 25 shot single-barrel event before reaching the final against Great Britain’s Charlotte Kerwood.
Trailing the British athlete by two targets heading into the final, Laetisha reversed the situation with a stellar round and won the gold medal with a two shot lead.
Her stellar performance also saw her beat the current world number four, Suzana Stefecekova of Slovakia .
Laetisha’s sights are now set firmly on representing her country at the 2012 Olympics in London and replicating her gold medal performance at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
The 21 year old will have to complete a series of gruelling qualification events that started in January and will go on to March next year.
Her next opportunity to win some quota places for the Olympics will be at the ISSF World Cup in Maribor, Slovenia in July.
Laetisha finished a Bachelor of Communications at Monash last year where she was able to manage her sporting and academic commitments with the help of the University’s Elite Athlete Support Program.
