Distinguished Alumni Awards

A legal academic, a business leader, a humanitarian, a doctor, and a debating champion will receive this year’s Distinguished Alumni Awards.

Professor Emeritus Ron McCallum AO(BJuris 1970, LLB (Hons) 1972) is the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award.

An Australian legal academic, Professor McCallum has built an impeccable reputation based on exceptional contribution to human rights, education, research and the community. Read Professor McCallum’s full profile.

The Distinguished Alumni Professional Achievement Award will be presented to Ms Cathie Reid (BPharm 1991).

Ms Reid sits at the helm of APHS, one of Australia’s largest suppliers of pharmaceutical and clinical services for the hospital, oncology and aged care sectors with an annual turnover exceeding $200 million. Read Ms Reid’s full profile.

The 2012 Distinguished Alumni Service Award goes to Ms Sue Renkin (MBA 1995).

Ms Renkin has supported Monash as a volunteer for many years. Her volunteer roles include being a member of the Dean's Advisory Committee, and Chairman of Green Chemical Futures and the Victorian Centre for Sustainable Chemical Manufacturing. Read Ms Renkin’s full profile.

Doctor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Dr Sam Prince (MBBS 2006) will receive the Distinguished Young Alumni Award.

Besides working full time as a doctor for his not-for-profit organisation One Disease at a Time and running his restaurant empire, Dr Prince manages and finances his charitable foundation, E-magine. Read Dr Prince’s full profile.

The Alumni Student Award, which recognises voluntary service to the University and community leadership, will be presented to arts/law student Mr Kiran Iyer. 

Mr Iyer has shown voluntary service to Monash, particularly through his skill in debating and involvement in the Monash Association of Debaters. Read Mr Iyer’s full profile.

Our annual Distinguished Alumni Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements and exceptional qualities of Monash alumni worldwide.

This year’s gala awards ceremony will be held from 6.30 to 9.30pm, Thursday 4 October at the Plaza Ballroom, Regent Theatre, Melbourne. The ceremony will include an artistic program performed by students from the Monash Academy of Performing Arts and the School of Music.
