Independent role for TeamMONASH™

TeamMONASH

TeamMONASH is now separate from Monash Sport.

TeamMONASH™ has moved out from under the Monash Sport umbrella, taking on its own broader responsibilities as it approaches its 10th anniversary.

During its decade of operation, TeamMONASH™ has become a well-known banner under which the Monash community comes together to represent the University in non-academic pursuits.

Executive Director of the Campus Community Division, Vladimir Prpich, said TeamMONASH™ had developed an excellent reputation and strong brand awareness.

“Until now, TeamMONASH™ has sat within Monash Sport. Director of Monash Sport, Martin Doulton, recommended that we consider expanding its role before its 10th birthday,” Mr Prpich said.

“The Campus Community Division needs a dynamic vehicle for its non-academic programs and services, which strengthen community and foster individual wellbeing and performance; an expanded TeamMONASH™ is perfectly suited for this role.”

Accordingly, TeamMONASH™ is now its own independent organisational unit under the Campus Community Division, headed by its own director with responsibilities for the campus community campaign calendar, TeamMONASH™ events, volunteering, intervarsity and inter-university partnerships, hall of fame, elite athlete program, Indigenous sport, Monash games, external community sport engagement, university sports clubs and fundraising.

Monash Sport remains responsible for aquatics, fitness centres, sports ovals and hockey fields, recreational halls, health and fitness, court hire and bookings, social sport and SWAP programs.

“I am delighted that Mr Doulton has agreed to become the inaugural Director of TeamMONASH™. Mr Doulton has an acute understanding of TeamMONASH™; he was responsible for its creation and is the driving force behind its success,” Mr Prpich said.

“I am also very pleased that Brett Lavale, who was Group Manager of Monash Sport’s Services and Operations, is now the Director of Monash Sport.
