Monash Earth Sciences Garden revealed

The Monash Earth Sciences Garden.
The geological map of Victoria is brought to life with the brand new Monash Earth Sciences Garden at Clayton campus.
The impressive collection of over 500 igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks has been laid out to form a geological map of Victoria, against a backdrop of native plants and trees.
The first of its kind in Australia, the garden offers practical learning to undergraduate as well as secondary and high school students in a hands-on approach. Geology, physical geography and the atmospheric sciences students can use the garden to develop their skills in a range of areas, including field measurement, mapping and rock and mineral recognition.
The garden will also act a relaxation space for the Monash community.
The temporary fencing for the garden was removed over the weekend, with an official launch date set for 15 September 2015.
The Monash Earth Sciences Garden is located between the Green Chemical Futures and the School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment building at 9 Rainforest Walk. To find out more about the Monash Earth Sciences Garden, visit their website.
