Monash University welcomes Victorian Government's $350 million fund to support universities
Monash University welcomes the Victorian Government's $350 million Higher Education State Investment Fund, to support universities with capital works, applied research and research partnerships, and $110 million payroll tax deferral.
President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner AC, said: "This fund supports the essential role that universities play in the Victorian economy, and their contributions to innovation, job and knowledge creation and economic development, for the benefit of the whole community."
Professor Gardner also commented on the importance of the $110 million payroll tax deferral, which will allow universities to retain as many staff as possible through the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.
"This funding is a vital step in acknowledging the enormous impact on the higher education sector in Victoria, and the need for immediate relief to help meet the shortfall in revenue that every university is experiencing,” she said.
