New retail and outdoor space at Clayton
Sushi Sushi is one of a number of retail outlets that will come on board at Clayton campus in the second half of 2016.
The first stage of the Clayton campus Northern Plaza development launched in time for O-Week, with students and staff taking advantage of the fabulous outdoor space.
The development includes an extension of Sports Walk to the west, undercover outdoor restaurant seating to the north, and enhanced landscape, including an expansive timber deck, barbecues, tiered timber deck to the natural grassed area, paved areas with fixed seating, and outdoor furniture.
The large outdoor LED television at the Northern Plaza, which will be used for broadcasting news, movies, major and local events, was a welcome addition after being unveiled this week.
Existing retailers have been relocated within the Campus Centre. The Post Office reopened this week, and Westpac, which will feature a new open-plan layout and self-service facilities, Commonwealth Bank, and Monash Hair & Beauty are all on schedule to open next week in the new and improved internal retail space.
The Monash University Bookshop has also been reconfigured, and now stocks a wide range of Oxfam Fairtrade giftware, teas, chocolate and coffee, Monash merchandise, UGG boots, Indigenous designs, and eco-friendly stationery as well as books starting from $5.
In the second half of this year there’ll be an exciting range of food and drink outlets opening on campus.
Based on feedback from staff and students, these outlets include Guzman Y Gomez (Mexican), Papparich (Malaysian), Roll'd (Vietnamese street food), and Supernatural (takeaway health food, including organic superfoods, raw foods and vegan food).
Sushi Sushi and Subway will set up camp inside the Campus Centre, and there will be a new supermarket at Logan Hall.
Food Trucks at Monash will recommence next week, and initiatives such as The Campus Market and WinterFest will continue throughout the year.
