Reaffirming support for those affected by events in the Middle East
Monash University reaffirms our commitment to supporting students, staff and the wider Monash community directly or indirectly impacted by the significant escalation of conflict in Iran and other locations in the Middle East.
We understand that these events may be causing deep concern and anguish for members of our community, particularly those with family, loved ones or close ties in the region.
You are not alone and there are ongoing supports available, including:
- University counselling services for staff and students.
- 24-hour services for emergency and after-hours mental health support.
- The Employee Assistance Program is available to staff and their immediate families on 1300 360 364.
- For our students:
- If you have concerns about your studies, you may wish to consider flexible study options.
- If you are experiencing financial pressure, support may be available through payment plans and other options.
- If your circumstances are affecting your ability to complete your assessments, you may be eligible for an extension through special consideration.
- Monash Connect is available to discuss your options, and can connect you to further support.
Travel disruptions
We know that some of our students are currently unable to travel to Australia as planned. Your place at the University remains secure, and your enrolment and academic standing will not be affected by travel disruptions outside your control.
Continue your studies online
If you are unable to travel to Australia right now, arrangements are in place so you can continue your studies and stay on track with your learning. Please log into Moodle and begin engaging with your learning materials, online assessments and classes. If you have any questions or concerns, you are encouraged to contact your Unit Coordinator directly.
