Students shine at creative exhibition

After a momentous year, the final year students of Monash Art Design & Architecture (MADA) are set to impress at the annual MADA Now exhibition.
The show illustrates the creativity and dedication of the students, and launches them into the world of opportunity that now awaits.
From 22 November – 5 December, MADA's five learning spaces will be temporarily transformed into one of the largest galleries in Melbourne. It will be the centre of ideas, skill and talent across the diverse range of disciplines including fine art and visual arts, industrial design, architecture, multimedia and digital arts, interior architecture, and visual communication.
With an array of mediums on display including painting, animation, product design, installation, sound pieces and publications, the exhibition is an opportunity to witness the results of 350 emerging artists and designers and the culmination of teaching prowess and student willingness to explore.
For graduating interior architecture student Samantha Barry, the exhibition allows her to showcase her work, "Samantha Barry X Megan Park".
"I worked with internationally recognised fashion designer Megan Park to create a form of brand-scaping; branding her landscape to create a 'World of Megan Park'," Samantha said.
"The project was my way of seeing if this system I had designed could work. It certainly achieved what I'd hoped, which was a unique way for Megan to engage her customers and also distribute her brand/philosophy to gain new customers.
"Megan's Spring/Summer collection was translated into a spatial experience, where viewers became immersed in the environment through the use of projected prints. The design process involved think tanks and design-make studios with the public, where people from various non-design industries were invited to contribute to the final design outcome."
MADA Now 2014 runs from Saturday 22 November until Friday 5 December. The exhibition will be open from 10am-5pm Monday to Saturday at the Faculty of Art Design & Architecture, Monash University, Caulfield Campus, 900 Dandenong Road, buildings D, E, F and G.
