The second instalment of the Global Discovery Program will be under way on Saturday, 25 June when eight talented Monash students travel to New York to meet with the passionate alumni who have made this venture possible.
The Global Discovery Program was jointly launched in 2015 by the External Relations, Development and Alumni (ERDA) team and the East Coast Global Leader’s Group in the United States.
The East Coast Group is led by alumna Sue Fennessy (BA/SocSc 1994), along with alumna Anne Valentine Andrews (BEc 1992 (Hons) 1995), alumnus Patrick Loftus-Hills (BSc 1989, LLB 1991) and alumnus Karl Redenbach (BA 1999, LLB 2000).
“This is a key program within ERDA’s Alumni Engagement Plan 2015-2018 to establish a genuinely linked global network of senior alumni in eight key locations. These initiatives enhance the student experience and empower students with the knowledge, skills and connections that will enable them to excel on the world stage in their career of choice”, says Director, Alumni Engagement, Trevor Goddard.
The East Coast Group have once again partnered with Monash to offer Monash students unprecedented access to their professional and personal networks, enabling a unique experience beyond the Monash campus.
The eight students were selected on the basis of their inspiring video submissions themed #bethechange where they shared their aspirations on how to lead change for a better world.
Monash received an awe-inspiring response from our students with more than 500 entries. The final eight were short-listed by the ERDA team along with our East Coast Global Leader’s Group in New York and a 2015 Global Discovery Program scholar.
“The concepts put forward in student video entries highlight the intellectual and practical strengths of Monash students and reinforce the entrepreneurial and creative capacity of our alumni in teasing out these inspiring ideas. Collectively, there is no doubt, our students and alumni will #bethechange for a better world", says Mr Goddard.
Whilst this year’s iteration is well and truly underway, we are now taking expressions of interest for future Global Discovery installments. Monash students who express an interest will be contacted closer to the next Global Discovery Program launch.
