Update: Train incident in India
Monash University has been notified this afternoon of the death of one of our students, Ms Kate Scanlon, who was involved in a train incident in India. We are working with overseas authorities to confirm exact details of the incident.
Deputy Vice Chancellor Global Engagement, Stephanie Fahey said on behalf of the University, "We would like to express our deep sadness in learning of this tragedy. We send our condolences to the family and friends of Ms Scanlon. Upon hearing of her passing we have put in place counselling support and arrangements for fellow students and staff who have been affected by this terrible loss."
"To learn of such a tragedy is always upsetting and we will support her family and friends as best we can during this sad time."
