Following a competitive selection process, funds were awarded to 17 project teams across three funding windows. The projects involved 92 Monash staff collaborating with 23 community partners, 21 industry organisations and over a dozen investment partners in over 19 countries.

Exploring novel strategies to improve insulin sensitivity and secretion in skeletal muscle to combat diabetes
Diabetes currently has no cure, and its associated complications such as diabetic kidney disease are difficult to treat. This project aims to discover new therapeutic strategies to treat diabetes and its complications by exploring whether improved skeletal muscle health is a feasible treatment pathway.
