What is healthy work?

Healthy work involves creating a space in which workers and their leaders can collaborate together to ensure that the health, safety, and wellbeing of all individuals are protected.

To create a healthy work environment for all of its staff, Monash University focuses on the following five factors: the individual, university, workplace, relationships, and role.

healthy work factors: there are many factors that contribute to a healthy work environment and a positive employee experience.individual - where the individual feels motivated, safe and encouraged to keep learning. They have a focus on health and wellbeing and have personal values aligning to organisational values, role - Where the individual is clear on their role and its scope, has a reasonable workload and autonomy, and the job is a good fit for the staff member’s skills, university - Where the organisation is ethical, responsible, caring, values driven and adaptive to circumstances, relationships - Where the staff member has a supportive relationship with their supervisor, colleagues and broader team. The relationships are professional, collegial, open and focused on working together to better Monash and workplace - Where the environment is safe, inclusive, diverse, flexible and enabling.
