The mentees are current Year 11 and 12 students who are currently studying at an Access Monash school in metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and Tasmania. We aim to match you with mentees who are interested in a course or career pathways that aligns with your area of study at Monash, as well as any other factors that are important to you.
The mentors are current Monash University students who range from their first to their final year of study. We have a wide network of mentors from across all ten faculties at Monash University. We aim to match you with a mentor who is currently studying a course that aligns with your course interests and career aspirations, as well as any other factors that are important to you.
You can apply online by completing the Access Monash Mentoring application form during the advertised application period. This is typically around October-November the year before the program you wish to participate in the program.
If you wish to apply for a Mentor Leader, you only need to apply for Mentor Leader. We will automatically consider you for a Mentor role if you are unsuccessful in applying for Mentor Leader.
Yes. Students currently completing Year 12 can apply to become Access Monash Mentors for the following year, as long as they will be enrolled at Monash University in Australia throughout the program period.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview. Successful applicants will then complete compulsory training before beginning the role.
Once you submit your application, the Access Monash team will review your details and confirm your eligibility. The team will contact you in December or January to let you know if you’ve been accepted into the program, Then, we will match you with a suitable mentor and will attend a program launch session to help you get started with your new mentor.
All online communication between Mentors and Mentees takes place in the Chronus mentoring platform via direct message. Mentees and Mentors can also meet in-person at an approved location or online via the approved video call tool. There’s no need to share your personal contact information (e.g. email or phone number) with your mentee or mentor at any time during the program.
