We offer a variety of programs to our partner schools, which are designed to help improve the access, participation and success of students from underrepresented backgrounds in higher education. These programs also include campus tours, workshops on university applications, online seminars, financial aid and interactive sessions with current university students. Each program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of university life and help them explore their aspirations.
The Schools Access Monash (SAM) program consists of workshops, activities and campus visits that are tailored to years 9-12. The activities are informed by evidence based practice in widening participation and aim to support students to build relevant skills and make informed decisions about higher education.
Access Monash partners with schools selected based on eligibility including low Socio-Economic Status (SES) where the ICSEA is below state average, and schools that are located in set geographic boundaries, in Victoria (ICSEA 1031) which includes South Eastern suburbs, Frankston Mornington Peninsula, Gippsland, Goulburn Valley, Bendigo and Echuca, and Tasmania (ICSEA 1000) including Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie.
Experiencing campus life first hand helps students understand the academic and social aspects of university, along with the opportunity to meet current Monash students.
Students and parents can stay updated by checking Discover Monash regularly for announcements about upcoming programs and events. We also send out information through schools to ensure everyone is kept in the loop.
We connect with parents and carers and support them to understand the opportunities available to their young person. We aim to build confidence in supporting their young person in navigating the higher education journey including applications, equity schemes, scholarships and support services.
