The Social Inclusion Index, a partnership between the Monash Sustainable Development Institute’s BehaviourWorks Australia and Inclusive Australia, brings together people from different walks of life to break down barriers and prejudices. The Index measures how Australians interact with each other, accept each other, and connect with their country, helping to inform and shape policies and practices that address discrimination. Findings of the sixth release of the Index, released in 2022, showed that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples report the highest rates of both major and everyday discrimination, and religious minorities experienced the highest levels of prejudice.

Researchers from the Monash Business School worked with food relief not-for-profit organisation, The One Box, to investigate how management control practices and organisational sensemaking processes can help the charity to respond to an extraordinary explosion of demand generated by families struggling to put food on the table after the COVID pandemic.
The research has led to the development of a social impact measurement framework for evaluating and communicating The One Box’s impact.
