Sustainable urban development at Monash Indonesia

Citarum action research program

Highlighting sustainability and urban transformation, Monash University showcases innovative research and practical applications in Indonesia, from design in informal settlements to mapping green spaces:

  • The Urban Transformation Poster Competition invited PhD and postgraduate students to present research on sustainability topics, culminating in a seminar in Indonesia. Santiago Cortinez Albarracin and Risty Khoirunisa were recognised for their contributions to sustainable urban development.
  • The Citarum Action Research Program, part of Monash University's Informal Cities Lab, demonstrated the role of design in facilitating change in informal settlements along the Citarum River in Indonesia.
  • Quirin Ball, a geography graduate, undertook an internship at Monash University, Indonesia, focused on mapping green spaces using Google Earth.
