In 2024, Monash offered 83 units directly related to SDG 5, with 12037 total enrolments.
Highlighted below are a few of the units at Monash related to Gender Equality:
Associate Professor Jennifer Neil from the Department of General Practice at Monash University is leading efforts to improve women's health by integrating a trauma-informed approach to family violence education in medical training. Her work involves teaching medical students to recognise and respond to family violence, training GPs, and collaborating on curriculum reviews across Monash Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences.
This initiative aims to better prepare health professionals to support survivors of family violence, addressing a critical women's health issue.
Monash Business School has launched the Women in Finance, Economics, and Actuarial Science Scholarship to address the gender gap in these fields. The scholarship aims to support talented women from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue undergraduate degrees, thereby promoting gender equality in the financial sector.

Dr Lucie Joschko and Professor Nick McGuigan note the importance of dismantling structural barriers and empowering women to become leaders in finance and economics. The initiative builds on the legacy of Emeritus Professor Maureen Brunt AO, a pioneer in Australian economics.
In 2024, the Monash Engineering's Women in Engineering (WIE) Mentoring program connected current women engineering students with industry mentors. The 18-week program aims to foster connections and career growth through mentorship from engineering graduates.

Returning mentors and mentees emphasise the importance of networking and proactive engagement in the program.
Dr Neeti Aryal Khanal, a Monash University Faculty of Arts alumna, has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship for her research on supporting women with disabilities in Nepal. Her work, which focuses on violence against women and the marginalization of women with disabilities, is supported by her academic background in Women's Studies and Sociology at Monash.
The scholarship will enable her to further her research at Oberlin College and Conservatory in the United States, contributing to global efforts to address critical issues facing women.
