Womens health and gender equality
Improving health outcomes for women, especially from diverse backgrounds and rural areas, is part of Monash University's commitment to gender equality:
- The School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, led by researchers like Professor Danielle Mazza and Professor Jane Fisher, developed multi-lingual educational videos to empower CALD women in health decisions.
- Dr Jo Wainer AM's advocacy for safe abortion access and her legacy in women's health education is recognised through a new Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences prize.
- The ORIENT study, led by Professor Danielle Mazza and PhD Candidate Jessica Moulton, enhances nurse roles in rural contraceptive and abortion care.
- Professor Helen Bourke-Taylor and medical student Kiana Pourhossein use digital platforms to support mothers and combat health misinformation.
