Monash soars in global graduate employability rankings
Monash University has been recognised as one of the top institutions in the world for producing career-ready graduates, ranking 54 in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022.
The University increased 12 places since the previous ranking (conducted in 2019), placing Monash in the top 11 per cent of the 786 institutions analysed.
President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner AC said the University’s ability to advance its employability rank during a difficult period highlights Monash’s emphasis on graduate outcomes.
“Monash is dedicated to providing our graduates with the necessary skills and capabilities to gain secure employment, particularly during such challenging and uncertain times. I was delighted to see this reflected in the latest QS Graduate Employability Rankings,” Professor Gardner said.
The QS Graduate Employability Rankings is designed to provide the world’s students with a unique tool to compare university performance in terms of graduate employability outcomes and prospects.
Monash’s strongest metric was Employer Reputation, achieving a score of 87.7 out of 100 and placing 41st in the world. The University also performed well on Partnership with Employers, ranking 71, and Alumni Outcomes, ranking 79.
Each institution’s score consists of five indicators: Alumni Outcomes, Employer Reputation, Graduate Employment Rate, Partnerships with Employers and Employer-Student Connections.
The result comes after Monash was the strongest Victorian university in the federally-endorsed Graduate Outcomes Survey 2020, with 72.3 percent of domestic undergraduate students finding full-time employment within six months of completing a course at the University.
The survey also showed gender and socioeconomic status did not affect graduates’ employability, university-wide.
