Monash University is set to grow its Indonesia campus with the introduction of bachelor programs in 2026. Since the inaugural cohort of postgraduate students in 2021, Monash University, Indonesia, has grown to more than 700 students – with undergraduate students to commence from July.
Professor Sharon Pickering, Vice-Chancellor and President, said the commencement of bachelor programs at the University’s Indonesia campus will extend access to Monash’s excellent, globally connected, locally grounded education to emerging new generations, providing Indonesian high-school students with the opportunity to attend one of the world’s top-50 universities.
“Undergraduate education is a transformational opportunity for young people at a crucial time in their lives – a time to develop the tools to understand the world and meet its challenges with confidence,” Professor Pickering said.
“Monash has a longstanding and highly-valued relationship with Indonesia, and as a truly international university is uniquely placed to prepare students to lead and contribute to communities across Indonesia and the wider Indo-Pacific region.
“Monash is proud to be growing our commitment to Indonesia’s future by expanding our offering to bachelor programs, delivered with the same exceptional academic standards, support, immersive experiences and ethic of service that Monash is known for.”
The three new programs being offered – Bachelor of Design, Bachelor of Digital Business and Bachelor of Information Technology – have been designed to nurture future-ready graduates who can thrive in the digital economy, creative industries, and global business landscape.
The new bachelor programs also offer travel flexibility and global experiences; with students able to complete their entire bachelor's degree in Indonesia, or start their studies in Indonesia and finish in Australia.
Professor Matthew Nicholson, Pro Vice-Chancellor and President of Monash University, Indonesia, is excited about the opportunities that undergraduate degrees will provide for the Indonesian community.
“Since 2021, Monash University, Indonesia has been part of the nation’s journey towards Golden Indonesia 2045, drawing on Monash’s top-50 global reputation to empower the next generation of leaders. By connecting Indonesia’s aspirations with the reach of Monash’s global network, we open pathways for students, staff, alumni, and partners to create impact that resonates far beyond our campus,” Professor Nicholson said.
“A Monash undergraduate degree empowers students with the knowledge, creativity and global perspective they need to shape Indonesia’s future and to contribute to solutions that benefit the world.”
