Monash Warwick Alliance unveils ambitious strategy for next phase of global collaboration

Monash University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Sharon Pickering, has joined her University of Warwick counterpart, Professor Stuart Croft, in unveiling an ambitious new strategic direction for the Monash Warwick Alliance (‘the Alliance’).
Professor Pickering said the enhanced three-year strategy builds on the impressive foundation of the Alliance and the universities’ shared values of academic excellence and social impact.
“Our two leading universities have created a successful partnership model for international collaboration that is about co-developing, co-publishing, and offering genuinely transnational opportunities. This new strategy will allow us to deepen the Monash Warwick Alliance’s impact on research, education and global engagement, underpinned by new funding mechanisms and enhanced collaboration,” Professor Pickering said.
The Alliance's new funding mechanisms will further enhance its capacity to drive research with real-world impact across diverse fields, from antimicrobial resistance to particle physics.
For students, the enhanced strategy will continue to expand student mobility, cross-cultural experiences, fostering the next generation of global leaders. More than 1000 students have already participated in Alliance programs, including joint PhD programs, student exchanges, and virtual conferences. The introduction of Alliance Alumni programs will further strengthen these ties, creating a lasting network of globally engaged scholars.
“The new strategic direction ensures the Monash Warwick Alliance will continue to be the benchmark for international collaboration in higher education, demonstrating the power of partnership to address global challenges and make positive change for the benefit of society,” Professor Pickering said.
