Monash Business School has partnered with Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) to launch CDL-Melbourne, the first initiative of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region. The CDL program nurtures tech talent and fosters massively scalable science and tech-based companies by providing mentorship, technical advice, and investment opportunities for participating students. The CDL initiative also connects with global business schools and experts and supports early-stage deep technology ventures.

Five Engineering PhD students competed in the Faculty’s final Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition in July, where they presented their work to help address complex technological challenges. The students’ projects spanned challenges as diverse as mineral recovery from waste, air quality near coal mines, privacy-respecting tracking systems, CO2 breakdown using nanotechnology, and artificial heart development.

Monash Human Power (MHP) is a student-led Engineering team that designs, manufactures and races fully enclosed human-powered vehicles, exploring the sustainable and eco-friendly opportunities of possible future travel. In 2023, the MHP team broke the Australian single track speed record for a human powered vehicle, achieving speeds of 116 kmh on a flat desert track at the World Human Powered Speed Challenge held in Nevada, United States.
