Who shapes the histories held in our archives, and what responsibilities do archivists have to the communities those histories represent?

This year's Whyte Lecture reflects on the International Council on Archives' Declaration on LGBTQI+ and Sex-Affective and Gender Diversity Archives and Archivists, which calls for LGBTQIA+ communities to be recognised as co-authors of their own histories.

Guest speaker Dr Elliot Freeman, Archivist and Heritage Manager at Australian Red Cross, will consider the role of archivists in supporting queer communities to preserve, share and shape their histories, amid growing hostility towards queer and trans people.

The Whyte Lecture is presented by Monash University's Faculty of Information Technology and the Whyte Fund Committee.
