Hi, I'm Oneeb and I'm from Pakistan. Monash University caught my eye because of its high international rankings and respectable reputation. Although I had applied for a few other universities, Monash best suited my needs and interests.
In my degree I chose Games Development as my major because I'm fascinated with video games. They have been a huge part of my life, and I was thrilled to have the chance to learn how to develop them.
Both the Games Development and Interactive Media majors provided interesting, relevant and comprehensive content for students. The teachers are also some of the most dedicated, caring people I've ever met. Their guidance and advice have been extremely helpful to me as a games developer and an individual.
Another highlight has been working and forging strong friendships with my peers, who were all extremely amicable and driven. What's more, I've made many connections with industry thanks to the teaching staff.
My final-year Studio Project was an amazing experience because we got to build a game we're exceptionally proud of. We're continuing with development so we can launch it as a full game. Working with Harrison, Maggie and Xavier has been a rewarding experience and we've all become close friends.
Monash is a good university, but a challenging one. Be prepared to put in lots of hard work – and don't hesitate to ask for help.
Talk to as many people as you can too, because the university is very multicultural. It's the perfect way to broaden your horizons. One of the best things about Monash and Melbourne is that you'll come across people from all cultural backgrounds, countries and walks of life.
And with a plethora of student clubs available, you're bound to find a group and make friends with people who share your interests!
