Australian Research Council Linkage Projects View

Funds alliances between higher education institutions and research end-users that typically run for three years. Projects are selected based on competitiveness and potential to solve relevant, pressing challenges.

Partner contributions

Partners choose an amount to contribute, with at least 25% made up of cash (not-for-profits exempt).

Australian Research Council Industry Fellowships View

Funds Industry Fellows who are researchers that work hand in glove with Australian businesses to develop the next generation of great products and companies.

The Fellow will spend at least 20% of the time working in the partner’s industry setting and at least 20% at Monash.

Partner contributions

Cash and/or in-kind contributions from partners are not required but are encouraged to improve project competitiveness in nearly all instances.

Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Program View

Industry Hubs and Training Centres

Funds research collaborations between universities and external organisations that simultaneously give higher degree by research and postdoctoral researchers innovative industry training and experience.

Industry Hubs

ARC funding: $500K-$1M for hubs with a duration between 3 and 5 years.

Training centres

ARC funding:

$650K$1M per annum for the first three years.
$150K-$1M for the fourth year.

Next Generation Graduates Program View

Cohort-based, industry driven, multidisciplinary graduate training programs that equip students with entrepreneurial thinking and skills key to boosting breakthrough innovation in the exciting fields of AI and other emerging technologies.

Partner contributions

Provide in-depth training and placements to students, and funding depending on learner type:

PhD students – $60,000
Masters of philosophy students – $37,500.
Masters RTP qualified – $13,300.
Honours and coursework students – $7,500.

ARC LINKAGE PROJECT

STEM for people with intellectual disabilities

Over half a million Australians experience intellectual disability, but current STEM activities are inaccessible to them. Partnering with Wallara, Dr Kirsten Ellis is creating unique and inclusive eMaking vans to engage this community in activities that turn them from passive consumers of STEM to active creators.

Industry-Based Learning (IBL) View

16-week industry placements that connect high-performing, industry-vetted IT students with leading organisations.

Partner contributions

Host an IBL student placement.
Donate $17,200 + GST as an education grant for the student.
Assign one supervisor to each IBL student you host.
Provide an interesting and challenging learning environment and experience.

Industry Experience Studio Projects View

Multidisciplinary student teams that develop IT-driven solutions to address a real business problem from a partner or a social good issue.

Partner contributions

Undergraduate

Assign a project to a student team.

Postgraduate

Mentor teams: Visit Monash and advise teams as they pitch their ideas and bring them to life (four visits during semester).
Present as a guest lecturer: Present on your business’ relevant technologies, practices or professional experiences (one hour + preparation).
Be a judge at the expo: Assess teams on the presentation and execution of their projects (two hours).

Women in Technology Mentoring Program View

Mentored by accomplished industry professionals, this program helps women and non-binary students in IT expand their networks, gain critical insights into the field and get a headstart on their careers.

Partner contributions and program criteria

The program is open to Monash alumni and industry professionals in IT who are:

women
able to commit to meeting your mentee at least three times throughout the program
able to commit at least one hour of your time per mentoring session.
