FIT3190 is a unit for students who have self-sourced a new paid internship and wish to have it considered for academic credit. FIT4190 is specifically for students completing the Software Engineering specialisation in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).
Before applying, ensure:
FIT3190 requires 230 hours of internship work, normally completed over six consecutive weeks full-time or 30 days part-time over 12 weeks.
If your internship is longer than the credited period, only the final 230 hours within the approved credit window will count toward FIT3190.
For student visa holders, Work completed under FIT3190 and FIT4190 is considered elective and is not a mandatory course requirement.As a result, work you undertake within your internship will contribute towards your 48 hour work restriction per fortnight.

You will be notified of your application’s outcome or requested to provide more information via your Monash student email so monitor your inbox closely.
If your application is successful, the Faculty will confirm next steps which may include an initial meeting between you, your workplace supervisor and a faculty representative.
Once final approval is confirmed, the Faculty will arrange manual enrolment into FIT3190. During the placement, you will complete academic activities such as goals, logs, reflections, check-ins, supervisor evaluations and a final presentation.
