My name is Yi Su and I'm a student from China. I came to study at Monash University through Monash College in Melbourne, where I completed a diploma that helped me transition into my degree.

Ever since secondary school, I've wanted to study overseas. I used to read lots of books and hear many stories on Western education, so it was a seed growing over several years.

I chose Monash because it has a great international ranking and global reputation.

And it was through a Monash College Diploma, which accepted my Chinese College Entrance Exam scores, that I was able to join the university – and save one year!

Although I started with Commerce, I realised how important technology is for both businesses and everyday people. So I chose IT as well, which has boosted my capabilities and confidence in adopting new software.

During my time at Monash, I've received a lot of support.

Thanks to Career Connect, I've had access to many workshops on job applications, resume writing and more. They helped me secure my internship at Tourism Adventure Group, where I was responsible for marketing, campaign planning, social media, design and event management.

English Connect also improved my communication skills and the quality of my assignments.

On top of working for Monash casually, I've received financial assistance from a Resident Advisor (RA) Scholarship. As an RA, I run events, take care of student wellbeing and am the first point of contact for help.

My time in Australia has been eye-opening. I love Melbourne's beautiful sunsets -and the chance to meet people from around the world.
