Team Monash, an interdisciplinary team composed of 11 students from the Faculty of Art Design and Architecture, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of IT, has won Telstra's 2014 Machine-2-Machine (M2M) University Challenge.
M2M is an exciting and rapidly growing area of telecommunications that is transforming industries. For the challenge, Monash students used a Raspberry Pi computer along with a BigPond 4G broadband dongle to create an innovative application for public transport users that allows a commuter to accurately predict their likelihood of getting a seat on a particular train.
The prize includes a grant from Telstra of $10,000 as well as consultancy services to help further develop the winning innovation.
