Latest rankings demonstrate Monash’s consistent and continued strength as a world-leading institution

Monash University has strengthened its standing as a world-class institution in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 released today, with 44 subjects ranking within the global top 100.

Sixteen subjects placed in the top 50, including Pharmacy and Pharmacology, which retained a top 5 position for the ninth year in a row.

The University also remains in the top 100 globally in all five broad subject areas:

  • Life Sciences and Medicine =34th
  • Social Sciences and Management 51st
  • Arts and Humanities =67th
  • Engineering and Technology 78th
  • Natural Sciences 83rd

The rankings are based on reputation and research performance and highlight Monash’s teaching and research excellence as well as the successful employment of our graduates.

Professor Sharon Pickering, Vice-Chancellor and President of Monash University, said these latest results demonstrate the exceptional dedication, expertise and collaborative work of Monash people across the University.

The University maintains an enviable global reputation for research and teaching excellence, and is ranked in the world’s top-50 universities in the QS World University Rankings 2025 (#37), and US News and World Report Best Global Universities 2024-2025 (35th) across a range of metrics.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject assess the performance of more than 1500 universities worldwide. The rankings are compiled from an analysis of more than 16.4 million unique papers, 117.8 million citations and global surveys by employers and academics.
