Reopening roadmap

Roadmap to reopening

We're committed to following government guidelines when reopening our Australian campuses to ensure the health and safety of the Monash community.

The University’s COVIDSafe principles must be adhered to at all times:
  • Staying away if unwell and/or displaying any COVID symptoms (even the most mild of symptoms), and continuing to act quickly if a person becomes unwell
  • Ensuring physical distancing
  • Wearing a face mask when indoors, or if 1.5 metre physical distancing cannot be maintained when outdoors
  • Promoting hand and respiratory hygiene practices
  • Increased cleaning
  • Registering attendance for contact tracing purposes

COVIDSafe Settings – current

Effective from 11:59pm, Thursday 17 June 2021. The restrictions will be reviewed regularly by the Victorian Government to ensure they reflect current public health advice.

Conditions of entry:

  • In line with government advice, face masks will need to be worn indoors at all times, or if 1.5 metre physical distancing cannot be maintained when outdoors.
  • To meet the latest advice from the Victorian Government, it is now mandatory for all staff, students and visitors to our campuses and locations to scan the Service Victoria QR codes every time they enter a Monash building.
  • Swiping of Monash IDs on door-readers will still be required to enter buildings with restricted access.
  • COVIDSafe training module completion.
  • For essential activities where people are required to interact within the 1.5m zone, a risk assessment and implementation of additional safety measures developed to address the specific activities, is strongly recommended. Additional safety measures to be considered include, but are not limited to: reducing the time of the activity, the size of groups and the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Where the University has conducted a risk assessment and deemed that a surgical, or other grade, mask is required, the University will supply this.

COVID Normal

Move from COVIDSafe Settings to COVID Normal, as directed by the Victorian Government.

Conditions of entry:

  • Mask wearing aligned to DHHS requirements at the time
  • COVIDSafe training module continues
