Staff leadership development

Leadership can be learnt. We provide skills development, coaching, and opportunities to network and learn from others – no matter where you are in your career.

Leadership in action

Leadership in action is designed to increase the capability of senior leaders specifically in managing people and strategic thinking.

Academic heads leadership induction program

The three-day Academic heads leadership induction program builds leadership and management capability in academic heads. It focuses on practical application and skill development to allow participants to fulfil the requirements of their role.

Academic heads' network

The Academic heads' network supports heads by sharing good practice, drawing on the experience of the University and the group to solve common problems, and providing an opportunity to network. We meet in an informal environment several times a year.

Leadership coaching

Leadership coaching is one-on-one and tailored to the needs of the individual. The Leadership and Management Development team can assist in referring you to an appropriate coach.

Leadership forums

Monash holds several lunchtime leadership forums each year, each with a guest speaker invited from academia, industry or government. The forums provide inspiration, information and networking and develop critical management and leadership competencies in senior staff.

Future research leaders program

The Future research leaders program is designed to support the development of Monash's early to mid-career future research leaders. Each module is comprised of online learning materials and activities tailored to Monash University, and supported by a face-to-face workshop.

Leadership and management development - level 1

Leadership and management development - level 1 is specifically designed for staff new to the role of supervisor or team leader and those who recognise the need to refresh their leadership skills. The emphasis is on improving personal competence and developing strategies for managing and supervising individuals and teams. To maximise the transfer of learning back to the workplace, participants, in partnership with their supervisors, will identify skills and behaviours required to achieve work unit and individual goals.

Leadership and management development - level 2

For experienced managers. Leadership and management development - level 2 helps develop knowledge and skills with a specific focus on strategic, task and people abilities and their application in day-to-day work.

Team leaders' workshop

The Team leaders workshop is a one-day workshop for team leaders, supervisors, coordinators or those involved in managing staff.
