Parking for events

There are a number of parking options on campus for your guests attending events, including organised parking where bays are reserved and paid for by the event, or self-service options where guests arrange and pay for their own parking.

Information for Event Attendees

If you are attending an event on campus, your event organiser will provide instructions on where and how to park for your event. Alternatively, see Visitor parking for casual parking options.

If you get lost or cannot get in contact with your event organiser when you arrive at campus to park, you can call Buildings and Property on 9902 0222 to assist.

Organised event parking

Parking can be pre-arranged for guests attending events on all campuses, with the cost for parking being paid for by the event. A unique code will be provided to guests, for use in registering their vehicle online.

Event organisers who would like to arrange parking for their guests can do so by completing an enquiry form. Once your enquiry has been received a team member will contact you within 2 business days to confirm the details of the event and organise your event code.

For Monash University events, if there are less than 15 attendees and no reservation is required, Yellow scratchy permits will be required in place of event parking. Please click here to apply for administration access to issue the Yellow permits.

Different location options may be offered for in semester and out of semester times.
- In semester: All semester weeks (Week 1 to 12), Orientation Week, examination periods, and graduation periods. All event parking requests will be allocated to Meter parking during the in-semester period.
- Out of semester: Mid-semester break, Swot Vac, and all other weeks of year (subject to graduations). Event parking may utilise other parking locations, including permit areas.
Parking will be charged at the Meter parking rate unless exceptions apply.
Effective from 2 March 2026, charges will be as follows:
- Unreserved: $21.30 per bay
- Reserved: $31.95 per bay, plus a flat rate set up fee of $54.
Fees can be paid via cost centre and fund, inter-company journal, or invoice.
Your guests will be able to register their parking prior to arrival using the vPermit website, using the event code required.
Traffic management can be provided for your event. Larger events may require resources to direct cars and pedestrians during the busy arrival.
When contacting us about your event, please outline the type of traffic management you think may be required.
Resources will be charged at $58.70 per hour base rate, with a minimum of a 4 hour engagement.
If your guest received an infringement while parking on campus they are able to apply for an internal review if they have valid grounds to do so.

Self-service options

Visitor parking

All campuses have metered visitor parking areas, where guests pay casual rates for the time they park, using the OPark app or Pay-By-Plate machines.

Staff and Students attending events

Monash staff and students attending events on campus can use Pay As You Use (PAYU) parking and park in Blue permit areas. Staff also may park in Red permit areas, which are charged at a higher rate.

Use of Monash car parks for other purposes

Permission should be sought to use Monash roads or car parks for any events or purposes other than parking (such as erecting marquees or vehicle displays).
