The Faculty's research agenda is focussed on working towards a society in which education enables full and equitable participation, with pillars on reimagining educational leadership, transforming teaching and learning, shaping digital futures, enhancing health and wellbeing, and educating for diversity and inclusion.

Faculty of Education researchers with funding through the Australian Research Council Laureate Fellowship scheme have undertaken a five year study exploring imaginary play among infants and toddlers. The findings of the Conceptual PlayWorld research project, which engaged with over 2500 educators and young children, have profoundly shaped understanding of the importance of imaginary play in early childhood development and its impact on STEM learning.

Monash Sustainable Development Institute and the Faculty of Education have collaborated on research exploring educator attitudes towards managing the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA) of teaching in a complex and changing environment, with a particular focus on sustainable development education. The research aimed to understand current practices, barriers, and enablers in teaching social and emotional competencies to navigate challenges like climate change and political instability.
