Is AI inclusive?
Through ground-breaking advances in facial recognition and machine learning, AI is transforming our everyday lives. It’s also helping to address critical social and health issues such as homelessness, infectious diseases and substance abuse.
But is AI better for everyone?
To some, it’s creating new opportunities for marginalised people and bringing diverse groups together in new ways. But for others, the machine learning, software and algorithms underpinning AI reinforce and enhance inequality - such as through gender and racial exclusion.
Why attend the Great Debate?
Hosted by pioneer Australian comedian Rob Quantock, this Tech Talk is your chance to hear different arguments on whether AI is truly inclusive.
At this debate, you’ll:
- Listen to leading academics and industry experts who have been asked to present opposing perspectives
- Learn about interesting research and practice examples used to support each team’s stance on inclusion issues in AI
- Discover current challenges in making AI more inclusive
This event will also give you the chance to network with industry partners, Monash alumni and leading researchers in the field.
