Anthony Cursio

An IT career spanning 16 years and 11 markets across Asia Pacific

Anthony Cursio

Early in his career, as part of the ANZ Technology Talent Program, Anthony Cursio (Bachelor of Computing) jumped at the chance to swap jobs with a team member. This landed him in Bangalore, India on a six-month secondment. A move that expanded into two years in India. And from there he has happily bounced from opportunity to opportunity across the Asia Pacific.

I found this exciting and adventurous, visiting new places and trying to understand the various cultural differences. On the journey, I’ve made many lifelong friends, as well as learned new languages and how to adapt to many types of situations, reflects Anthony. And it’s great to see teams in multiple countries working together to deliver the same goal. Talking to each other daily and trying to get the best out of each other.

Since 2002, Anthony has performed a wide range of roles at ANZ. He now, as Program Director, for multi-million dollar initiatives, breaks down large-scale proposals into deliverable components and leads multi-disciplined teams to deliver them. These components can be projects, led by Project Managers or Team Leads, he explains. I ensure that we are meeting customer and business requirements, to budget and timeframe, with exceptional quality.

Anthony led a team in Vietnam to make ANZ one of the first foreign banks to get a local banking license. Collaborating with the State Bank of Vietnam (the equivalent of the Reserve Bank of Australia) to achieve this was a privilege, says Anthony. And to open this new bank with the Australian and New Zealand High Commissioners present was a day to remember.

The secret to Anthony’s success? Adaptability, delivering what’s promised, being open and honest, and a willingness to learn and impart my knowledge to the team,he shares. I’ve enjoyed my exposure to various businesses, countries and technologies, but most importantly I’ve enjoyed my interaction with many great people from different cultures.

What message underpins all this? Never stop learning & try new things Anthony says.
