Bachelor of Education (Honours) and Bachelor of Science

Bachelor of Education (Honours) and Bachelor of Science

The Bachelor of Education (Honours) and Bachelor of Science double degree course offers a high quality education in Science whilst preparing you to teach students in primary or secondary schools.

Combined with your education studies, you’ll learn how to be an innovative and effective teacher, with the capacity to bring out the scientific curiosity in young people with an extensive range of majors and minors to choose from.

Primary education

This double degree will qualify you to teach children from five to 12 years of age in primary schools. While an education degree specialising in primary education provides a fine basis for your career as a teacher, enhance your specialist knowledge in Science by selecting up to two of 23 areas of Science (e.g. one major and one minor).

Secondary education

This double degree will qualify you in up to two teaching areas, working with adolescents from 12 to 18 years of age, as they progress through the secondary years. Secondary education is always studied as a double degree, with the partner degree providing the specialist discipline knowledge for the areas in which you will qualify to teach. You will select up to two of 23 areas of Science (e.g. one major and one minor) which will correlate with the subjects you are most interested in teaching.

There’s always high demand for science and mathematics teachers, both in primary and secondary schools. But with this double degree, your options certainly aren’t limited to the classroom, allowing you to pursue a career that aligns with your chosen area/s of Science.
