Monash researchers recognised for international influence in the 2018 Highly Cited Researchers list
Monash University researchers have been recognised for their success in the 2018 list of Highly Cited (HiCi) researchers released today by Clarivate Analytics, with 22 Monash academics featuring in the list. The HiCi list recognises the world’s leading researchers in 22 fields across sciences and the social sciences, who place in the top one per cent of the most highly cited researchers in their field consistently over a ten-year period.
Monash again performed strongly in the subject area of Pharmacology and Toxicology, with five researchers listed, including Dean of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sir John Monash Distinguished Professor William Charman. Professor Arthur Christopoulos, Professor Colin Pouton, Professor Christopher Porter and Professor Patrick Sexton were also recognised.
Monash University Provost and Senior Vice-President Professor Marc Parlange said, “Congratulations to the Monash academics recognised for their exceptional achievements as the very best, most highly cited researchers in their respective fields. Their outstanding contributions are confirmation of Monash’s global influence and commitment to undertaking research of the highest international quality."

The HiCi list is published annually by Clarivate Analytics. Now in its fifth year, the citation analysis identifies the most influential researchers as determined by their peers around the globe. A new ‘cross-field’ category was added this year to recognise researchers with substantial influence in several fields, but who do not have enough highly cited papers in any one field to be chosen.
