The privately organised event Yom HaZikaron was held at Robert Blackwood Hall at Clayton campus on Monday 13 May without disruption.
The safety and wellbeing of our community is paramount. Monash University worked with event organisers and Victoria Police to ensure the safety of all participants, and those engaged in the protest activity.
There was a highly visible security and police presence on campus to ensure public safety. We thank those involved for supporting the operations to ensure the safety of all on campus.
Six individuals, who were not affiliated with Monash University and took part in the protest activity, were directed to leave Clayton campus last night for trespass, in line with regulation 93(1) of the Monash University (Council) Regulations.
We are aware of a small number of isolated incidents between some protesters that required intervention, and we thank Victoria Police for its swift intervention to de-escalate tensions.
The University has zero tolerance for violence and speech that harms. We will take all available action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community.
