University operations following Stage 4 lockdown

17 February 2021

Dear student,

The Premier announced today that the five-day Stage Four lockdown will end as planned at 11.59pm (AEDT) tonight (Wednesday 17 February) and Victoria will return to COVIDSafe Summer restrictions (PDF, 88 KB) with some revised conditions.

Research, teaching and learning arrangements

  • All research activities can resume and are no longer confined to essential research aligning to our four principles, as previously advised last week.
  • On-campus education will resume tomorrow (Thursday 18 February), and while there are no density limits in the classroom, 1.5 metres physical distancing must be maintained.
  • Until at least Monday 1 March 2021, masks must be worn indoors by students and staff. Academic staff engaged in teaching activities are able to remove their masks while teaching, as long as 1.5 metres physical distancing can be maintained.
  • Semester one on-campus teaching will go ahead as planned for those students onshore.
  • O-Week will continue as planned from this Monday 22 February, with refinements to attendance numbers for events (where required), and the University will provide attendees with masks. Wominjeka Monash will proceed across campuses, commencing at Peninsula on Monday. Due to restrictions, all face-to-face events will require registration. Visit the O-Week website for more information.

Campus operations

A face mask must be carried at all times and worn inside while on campus and at University locations. A mask must also be worn outside if you can’t physically distance.

Students can continue to park for free in any blue zones until Sunday 21 February by registering through the CellOPark app. From Monday 22 February, parking will be charged on a pay-as-you-use basis. More information can be found on transport and parking webpages.

From tomorrow the following services and retailers will re-open with previous density limits:

  • Matheson, Hargrave-Andrew and Law Libraries at Clayton and the Caulfield Library will operate from 8am–6pm, Monday to Friday
  • Peninsula and Pharmacy Libraries will operate from 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday
  • Monash Connect front counters
  • Dine-in services for food and beverage retailers, with takeaway continuing
  • Monash Sport.
