Winter semester for the Faculty of Science officially runs over the period from 19 June to 14 July 2023 but Internship dates can vary outside these dates with approval from the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) unit and the unit co-ordinator.
EAE3540 - Geology and geomorphology in the field
A 14-day field trip (including travel) in Broken Hill plus 3 orientation days prior to departure.
You will learn about processes related to geological evolution including structural geology, metamorphism and geomorphology that have contributed to the creation of current landforms, during the field trip. You will learn to observe, interpret and record geological and landscape processes and their expressions in the bedrock and landscapes, drawing on your prior studies in the School of Earth, Atmosphere & Environment

MTH5840 - Minor industry placement
This unit is designed to provide you with industry experience and work-based learning. Through the placement, you will be able to apply financial thinking, modelling techniques and mathematical and statistical skills acquired throughout the Master's program to solve real-life problems in finance and related areas. In the process you will acquire invaluable experience and knowledge on the functioning of a finance-related workplace.
You must compete at least 180 hours of placement in a relevant industry.

SCI3501 - Impact through science 3A
In this unit you complete a domestic or international internship between 80 to 120 hours duration where you will put into practice the knowledge, leadership and entrepreneurial skills developed in your course. The internship experience will give you hands-on, real world exposure to the workplace environment and supplement your academic growth to develop your graduate attributes and employability skills. You will work with a host supervisor to establish professional objectives, a project plan, and to receive feedback on your progress. The internship will help you to develop self-awareness of your ability to meet stated objectives and areas in need of improvement. Pre-placement workshops run by the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) team will support your preparation for the placement and develop an understanding of science-based professions, the work culture, and the skills and attributes required for the workplace.

In this unit, you will undertake a science based internship of 80 to 96 hours, where you will put into practice the knowledge and skills developed in your course.
