Meeting rooms

Meetings rooms are located on each floor of the New Horizons buildings (20 research way). Each of these rooms is bookable via the Monash Google Calendar system. The naming convention for these facilities is as follows: 20 Research Way, Clayton-x-xxx-Meeting Room

How to book a room via Google Calendar

The meeting rooms in New Horizons vare as follows:

Ground floor G04, G16
Level 1 1.02, 1.16, 1.29, 1.30*, 1.51, 1.56
Level 2 2.03, 2.17, 2.22, 2.34, 2.37, 2.39*, 2.59
Level 3 3.03, 3.38, 3.40*, 3.15, 3.55, 3.59, 3.65

Note * These rooms are equipped with video conference and presentation systems with dual 46 inch LCD screens. The rooms are fitted with local desktop and blu-ray player, SMART tablet with stylus for interaction / annotation of on-screen content and infra red rearing augmentation. Capacity of rooms 12 people.

CSIRO users can view the room bookings at calendar resources. The following CSIRO staff have access to make bookings for these rooms:

If not booked, the meeting rooms can be used by any occupant of New Horizons.

Seminar rooms

New Horizons seminar rooms are available to resident faculties, schools and business units, and their students and affiliates. The calendar below shows the availability of the New Horizons seminar rooms. Use the drop down arrow on the top left of the calendar to change the date. To change your view of the calendars to either weekly or monthly, use the tabs in the top right corner. The drop down arrow also in the right corner allows you to select the room calendars you wish to view.

About video conferencing equipment

Breakout spaces

Each floor has a breakout space which is NOT bookable. This area has tea and coffee making facilities and is designed for informal conversations. Students and staff are encouraged to use these facilities when chatting with their colleagues. These facilities must be maintained by those using the rooms.

Collaboration lounge

A large collaboration lounge is located on the 4th floor of the building. The room is available to all New Horizons occupants to enjoy during the lunch period between 12pm and 2pm Mon-Fri.

This lounge is scheduled for teaching activities during semester, 8:00am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm Mon - Fri. However, may be booked for events after hours and on weekends by special arrangement outside of these hours.

Tea, coffee and milk supplies for the lounge are replenished on a weekly basis. The lounge is also equipped with the usual lunchtime facilities. Users of the lounge are responsible for the daily maintenance of the facility.

For all enquiries regarding bookings for the Collaboration Lounge can be directed to your Organisational Unit administrator as listed above.

BBQ booking

BBQ on the 4th floor roof top available to be booked for cooking purposes whenever this is required.
Use maybe restricted to roof top due to lounge booking.

Parenting Room

There is a Parenting Room on Level 2 (Room 248) equipped with a sink, fridge, electrical powerpoints, a nursing chair, change table and limited children’s equipment. It is only accessible with swipe card or fob access.

Temporary and Ongoing access to Level 2 in order to access the Parenting Room is available:

Temporary access for event organisers

If you are hosting a meeting or event in New Horizons, please offer the Parenting Room to your attendees and delegates. A fob with access to Level 2 can be borrowed from the Engineering Reception at the ground floor of 14 Alliance Lane (Building 72).

Temporary access for visitors

If you are attending New Horizons as a guest for an event or function, ask your event organiser to borrow a fob on your behalf, so you can access Level 2.

Ongoing access

Monash staff and students can arrange access to the Parenting Room by completing the standard access request process, starting with the Online Induction.

Please note that staff and students are not required to obtain their manager’s approval on the access request form. Requests for the Parenting Room can list Kerry McManus as the Academic Supervisor. To respect your privacy, your supervisor will not be advised that you have requested access to the Parenting Room. In this case, please note on the form that you are requesting access to the Parenting Room only.
