How to apply
The Faculty of Engineering offers PhD and Master’s by Research degrees across all engineering disciplines. This page sets out what Engineering specifically needs from you as part of your application. A well-prepared application starts before you open the form. Work through the steps below before you begin.
Find a supervisor
Before you apply, you need to identify and contact a potential supervisor whose research aligns with your interests.
Monash Engineering offers research opportunities across a wide range of fields - whether there is a match depends on the availability of supervisors with the right expertise and the resources to support your project.
We encourage you to explore our research areas and reach out to academics working in your field of interest. Please keep in mind that contacting a supervisor does not guarantee admission, as places are competitive.

Gather your documents
In your application please ensure to include all documentation that demonstrates your relevant academic background and, where applicable, any prior research experience, including journal articles and conference papers.

Admission-only applications can be submitted at any time.

4. Apply
Applications are submitted through the central My.App portal. Before you begin, review the Application Submission Guide for a full list of required supporting documentation.
5. What happens next?
Once you submit your application it will be directed to your nominated supervisor and the Faculty for review. You may be contacted for an interview or further information.
If you are offered a place, your letter of offer will explain the enrolment process.
