Civil and Environmental Engineering Postgraduate Committee (CEEPC)
The Civil and Environmental Engineering Postgraduate Committee (CEEPC) is a student-led committee dedicated to supporting and representing nearly 200 postgraduate students within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Monash University.
CEEPC brings together students across Environmental Engineering, Geomechanics Engineering, Resources Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transport Engineering, and Water Engineering. We organise academic, professional, networking, social, and recreational activities that help postgraduate students connect with each other, academic staff, alumni, and industry professionals.
The CEPC is composed of a diverse team, containing both domestic and international students, masters and PhDs, equal gender representation and at least one general representative from each of the five civil engineering groups (i.e. Geomechanics, Resources, Structures, Transport and Water/Environmental).
The committee also represents the postgraduate student voice by raising feedback, ideas, and concerns at departmental, faculty, and university levels. At present, CEEPC comprises 16 postgraduate students from across the department. You can get to know our committee members in the bios below!

Thisara Senarathna
President
Thisara is passionate about strengthening the postgraduate community and creating meaningful opportunities for students to connect, grow, and engage beyond their research. As President of CEEPC, he leads initiatives that bring together postgraduate students, academics, alumni, and industry professionals through networking, professional development, and community-building activities. He is also a PhD candidate at Monash University, with research focused on improving corrosion protection and the long-term performance of buried pipeline infrastructure.
Tharindu Kannangara
Vice-President
Tharindu is a third-year PhD researcher in the 3GDEEP (https://www.3gdeep.com/) lab at the Faculty of Engineering, Monash University. His research focuses on the advancement of Slow-Releasing Energy Material Agents (SREMA) for eco-efficient mineral recoveries as an alternative to conventional mining techniques under the supervision of Prof. Ranjith PG. Additionally, Tharindu is dedicated to fostering social cohesion among civil engineering postgraduates. Outside academia, he finds joy in exploring nature through travel, forming new connections, and assisting others.
Armin Shamohammadi
Vice President
Armin Shamohammadi is a PhD candidate in Civil Engineering at Monash University and Vice President of CEEPC. He supports industry engagement, professional networking and initiatives that connect postgraduate students with alumni, employers and research opportunities.
Sadib Bin Kabir
Advisor
Sadib Bin Kabir received his Bachelor of Science (2020) and Master of Science (2022) in Civil Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) in Bangladesh. His PhD study at Monash University focuses on improving the performance of Australian solar-based pit thermal energy storage systems by evaluating geomembrane–insulation cover systems, with an emphasis on coupled heat and water-vapour transport, geomembrane durability, and the thermo-hydro behavior of surrounding soils. He has been serving as a Teaching Associate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Monash University since 2023, and previously worked as a Lecturer at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Bangladesh. He is currently a PhD candidate under the supervision of Professor Abdelmalek Bouazza and also serves as the CEEPC advisory representative at Monash University. Salmi Sikurajapathi

I am a final-year PhD scholar at the 3GDeep Lab under the supervision of Prof. Ranjith P.G., conducting research in geomechanics and CO₂ sequestration. Between experiments and equations, I make it a point to step outside the lab just as often, traveling and embracing the cultures and experiences that come along the way.

Shufa Ansar
Health and Safety Representative
Shufa Ansar is a final-year PhD candidate in Civil Engineering at Monash University and a member of the 3G Deep research group. Her research focuses on developing sustainable construction materials using mine tailings and industrial by-products. Outside her research, Shufa enjoys travelling, meeting new people, building meaningful connections, and contributing to a friendly and supportive postgraduate community.

As a CEEPC Health & Safety Representative, she is committed to promoting a safe, healthy, and supportive work environment for postgraduate students and helping raise and communicate health and safety matters with the CEE HSW team.

Kushan Bellanthudawage

Kushan is a PhD student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Monash University, researching stormwater management with a focus on the maintenance of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD). As a committee member of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Postgraduate Committee (CEEPC), Kushan helps organise initiatives that support the postgraduate community.

Isuri is a final-year PhD researcher in the 3GDEEP lab at the Faculty of Engineering, Monash University. Her research centres on the technical evaluation of underground hydrogen storage in unlined rock caverns, under the guidance of Prof. Ranjith PG. Passionate about building community, Isuri actively contributes to fostering social cohesion among civil engineering postgraduates. Beyond her academic pursuits, she enjoys exploring nature through travel, building meaningful connections, and supporting others.
Sasandi Muhandiramalage

Sasandi is a second-year PhD researcher in the 3GDEEP Laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering, Monash University. Her research focuses on the geochemical and transport controls on underground hydrogen storage performance, under the supervision of Prof. Ranjith Pathegama Gamage. Outside academia, she enjoys travelling and exploring new places.
Aseni Senanayke
General Representative
Aseni is a final-year PhD student affiliated with the Construction Engineering and Management research group within the Civil Engineering Department at Monash University. Her research focuses on developing vision intelligence frameworks for automated resource recovery from electronic waste. She is a team member at the ASCII lab and conducts her research under the supervision of Associate Professor Mehrdad Arashpour.
