ePortfolio submission

ePortfolio is the platform you will use to create your written record detailing the skills you develop and apply during your CPD experiences as well as uploading your 6 CPD assessment questions.

Your ePortfolio record will be made up of a number of entries where you log:

Your experience (including provider contact details and Supporting Documents if > 35 hours)
Number of hours spent on your experience
Which Experience type (CPD Category) your experience belongs to
Employability skill(s) gained or demonstrated in that experience
A total of three written reflections - one reflection per experience

You should add your experiences on ePortfolio on an ongoing basis while it’s fresh in your mind (rather than leaving it all to the end of your degree).
Once you have access to the ENG CPD ePortfolio template, you can directly add your experiences, skills and reflections to your ePortfolio collection. It’s best to update your ePortfolio regularly, adding experiences as they happen. Prior to getting access to the template, we recommend keeping notes of your experiences, skills and reflections. This will help keep the information fresh and accurate.
- Ensure that you have made a copy of the ENG CPD ePortfolio template by going to the Main Menu (on the top right hand side of the landing page), then ‘Share’ and ‘Shared with me’.
- Go to the three dots on the right hand side and click on copy.
- Name as follows: ENG CPD ePortfolio {first name, last name, student ID number”}
- Click on the pencil symbol on the top right hand side of the page.
- Go to either of your “Record Engineering Experiences” or “Record Non-Engineering Experiences” pages and click on the + symbol.
- Give your activity a title.
- Your “Experience” should always default to ENG CPD.
- Select the relevant Category for your activity.
- Fill in all the required fields including a description of your experience (if it’s a curriculum experience, please include the unit code / title).
- Add a contact name– this is a person who can confirm what the experience was, that you participated and for approximately how many hours.
- Add supporting documents – if your experience is greater than 35 hours then you need to provide supporting documents. More details on supporting documents below.
- You must add a contact person to every experience you record on ePortfolio. This is a person who can confirm what the experience was, that you participated and for approximately how many hours.
- If you don’t have a specific name then put the name of the company with their general contact details (website, HR phone number).
- Curriculum-based – for this category use the name of your lecturer, unit coordinator or similar academic. If you google their name + Monash it should show you their contact details.
- Monash Club-based experiences – use the name of the Club president or other Committee member with the Club’s generic contact details.
- Online training, short-courses etc – put the name of the company with their general contact details and add the link to the experience.
- Self-employed – try to provide details for a client, but you can put your own details down as well.
You must provide supporting documentation for any experience greater than 35 hours in length except in the following categories:
- Up to 70 hours of engineering curriculum (including ENG4801)
- Up to 115 hours for Industry Experience (ENG4803)
- Up to 115 hours for Co-op (ENG4804)
- Up to 600 hours for FIT3045 (Software IBL)
The supporting documents need to show:
- A description of your activities, including position title
- When the activity took place
- How many hours you participated in the activity
While supporting documentation is not required for individual experiences totaling less than 35 hours, you may still wish to provide evidence of your participation, especially if you’ve completed several shorter in-person or online activities.
- Links to online videos, workshops and seminars
- Certificates of attendance or achievement
- Event participation confirmations
This information will help demonstrate your engagement and strengthen your overall submission
There is a CPD work related evidence template you can provide your employer as well as a CPD student teams evidence template.
Supporting documents must be in English. If in a different language you must also include a NAATI certified translation.
You should reflect on your 3 experiences using the STAR method:
- Situation (background, setting of scene)
- Task (what needed to be done – when, where, with whom)
- Action (what you did, and how and why you did it)
- Result (outcome – what happened, what did you learn)
If the sample statements don’t resonate with what you want to reflect on you can also write your own statement.

- There are 6 CPD Assessment Questions (DOCX, 0.03 MB) you will need to answer, and you are asked to address the key Engineers Australia Stage 1 Competencies in your answers.
- There is a copy of the template on the CPD Moodle site
- The CPD assessors look at your answers to these questions carefully
- At the end of the CPD Assessment Questions document you are also asked to list all of your CPD experiences greater than 35 hours, and link through to the supporting documentation for each experience
- Upload your answers to your ePortfolio ENG CPD Collection
The CPD Moodle site is where you submit your Monash Engineering CPD ePortfolio collection with the answers to your six CPD assessment questions.
There is a new Moodle site for CPD created each semester, and you will automatically be added to the correct site prior to your final semester of study.
If you are in your final semester of study and don’t see the CPD unit in Moodle by the start of semester, please request to be added via this google form.
Once your ENG CPD Collection has been successfully submitted on Moodle, an academic from your department will assess your submission (including verifying your claims with the people whose contact details you provided as part of your submissions and reviewing your supporting documentation links). Note that the assessment process only begins after the submission deadline each semester, so if you have submitted early you will not receive feedback on your submission until after the submission deadline.
CPD is assessed on a pass/fail basis. If you don’t pass your CPD on your first attempt you can re-submit your work until it's satisfactory, as long as you meet the initial due date. Your assessing academic will let you know what needs attention.
When you pass CPD you will receive an SFR (Satisfies Faculty Requirements) for that unit, and you will have completed your CPD.
CPD is an academic unit, and as such falls under Monash’s Student Academic Integrity Policy.
When you submit your CPD for assessment it will be checked by TurnItIn for plagiarism.
The Faculty of Engineering audits CPD submissions every semester to ensure there are no academic integrity issues.

There will be severe penalties for anyone caught falsifying claims on their CPD. Failure to supply accurate and honest details about the activities you have attended, the hours you spent at those activities, the skills you have developed, the experiences you were exposed to, or accurate contact details and supporting documentation for verification purposes, would put your graduation in jeopardy if you were suspended or excluded from the university. Monash University’s policy on Academic Integrity applies in each of those instances, and for all CPD submissions. Furthermore, as a future Engineer, you should be upholding the Engineers Australia Stage 1 competency of ethical conduct and personal accountability.
