Materials Theory, Modelling and Characterisation
We have a large range of facilities and associated expertise for characterising materials. These range from the examination of macroscopic properties of bulk materials such as tensile, compression, fatigue, creep, fracture toughness, hardness and corrosion testing to microstructural, composition, atomic structure and chemical bonding analysis at the atomic and electronic scales. Specialist areas of expertise and technique development in materials characterisation, in combination with theoretical modelling, advanced data analysis and interpretation are also fundamental to the growth of new capabilities in materials characterisation and analysis.
